In this thread we will be discussing how to survive an encounter with different types of enemies and taming creatures.
As I'm sure you have noticed by now if you actually played the game, there are various dinos and more roaming the land, sky, and waters in the world. Pretty exciting, right? Well chances are you have been killed several times. It's important to note that carnivores aren't the only ones that can kill you. Ever tried pissing off a Triceratops? Trust me, doesn't end well if you are unprepared.
To start the thread off right I'll just say one thing: If you are dying regularly, then you are doing it wrong.
In an open world game like this it is essential to observe the environment just as much as the entities in it. Use the debris, rocks, cliffs, etc to your advantage. Get high if you dealing with animals that are too big, fast, or aggressive for you to take on up front. Try using a bow from on top of a large rock to kill a Tri and it'll do wonders or perhaps lure it to an area where the rocks are close enough together that you can slip through but it cannot and then either hack away or shoot it. Got a large carnivore on your ass and happen to be near a cliff? Great! Use it to your advantage. Most will use a charging attack, especially those with horns. Seeing them tumble off a cliff can not only be fun but it can save your life! Getting chased by a raptor? Make quick turns and try to avoid running in a straight line for too long but beware, they are fast and will eventually catch you if there is no plan. Scaling rocks are your friend if they are present.
The point of the above info is to pick your targets but just as importantly, pick your area of confrontation and use what's available.
