Team Death Match! Everyone's beloved server type!
Now obviously everyone has their own style of playing being it tdm, conquest, dom, or whatever. The problem is that most players tend to miss the point of the game. Allow me to explain. The Battlefield franchise, specifically BF3 & BF4 are owned and developed by veterans. This means that it was developed with the idea of how they operate in mind. In case the significance has eluded you thus far, it means that the developers wanted players to cooperate while playing. Unlike games like CoD where individual beast mode players are favored, the BF series focuses mainly on team play. Thus the squad formation in the servers.
Let's take a look at this from a TDM perspective. Every time a medic revives a friendly player, a point is removed from the enemy kill score total. When reviving, healing, resupplying, marking enemies, or setting spawn beacons down for mobile spawn points, all of these actions award the player with exp. Being a team player is not going beast mode and "carrying the team". In fact, games where these individuals are may often win but not by much; conversely, a team where the players work together rarely lose and often win with a significant difference in total points.
Realistically most maps on TDM servers are fairly straight forward. If you stick with your squad an actually communicate with them, It becomes considerably easier to stay alive and stack points. Ideally, running a squad of five using the following setup would yield the strongest force:
- Medic
- Medic
- Support
- Support
- Recon/Medic
This setup is a general class stack that can be effectively used to maintain the survival rate of the players for as long as possible. Some maps do favor recon more than other classes and that is fine but most do not. Operation Locker is a good example. There is little reason to have a sniper rifle on Op Lkr other than dropping any enemies who run outside; in other words - camping. There is no shame in camping in the BF franchise since it is a valid tactic to help win the game. That said, if you die repeatedly trying to get to a camp spot, stop going. Someone has already figured out your goal and is just getting free kills off you. Stop.
As for maps that favor recon, Rogue Transmission, Flood Zone, Golmund Railway, and Dawn Breaker from the standard map line up are perfect examples. These maps are pretty good for sniping play.
When running around the maps, call out locations of sighted enemies so that any friendly players can be aware of them. In Hard Core, spotting isn't really relevant but communication is. Let your squad know. Try to keep in the general location of your own squad mates and assist them if necessary.
For anyone running defibs, check your surroundings BEFORE reviving. Ever been revived just to be shot immediately after accepting or possibly before pressing the x button? Sure you have and I'm willing to bet that it irritated you also; right? Medics, check your corners, look at the door ways, hell, cast a glance to any prone bodies. There just might be a clever prick waiting to see if his latest kill will get picked up.
Support guys....drop your fkn ammo box and if for whatever reason you place a claymore, let your squad know. Please. Don't be "that guy". Many times I've hit the "need ammo" shout while standing right next to a friendly support and they refuse to give me ammo. I am by no means a good natured enough player that I won't shoot you, drop ammo for myself and then revive your sorry ass. Be kind, share that leaded goodness with your team.
Head glitching.....everyone hates being killed by a head glitcher, right? Of course they do. I certainly do, so do everyone a favor and let people know if there is one; especially if you die, let them know.
To sum up the point of all this, work together, use the mic, call out contacts, use the class specific equipment to effect, and finally - don't be a douche.
